Head Stud Kits
High Performance Engine Rebuilders prefer Head Studs to
Head Bolts when limited clearance is not a problem for a number of reasons.
when bolts are torqued into an engine repeatedly you risk damaging the
block threads due to stress encountered from preload. When studs are
used torque is applied to the fine threaded nut, hence all tension on
the stud threads is pulling tension as opposed to twisting tension when
using bolts. Very little stress is felt by the block threads. Clamping
force is greatly improved without distortion of the engine block and
cylinders.
Head studs also help position the gasket and head for quicker
removal and installation.
Pioneer Performance Head Stud Kits are 100% U.S. made,
heat treated to 180,000 PSI tensile strength and feature rolled threads
and undercut shanks for distributing torque stretch which increases the
clamping load.
High tensile hex nuts and extra thick chamfered washers
are included except where noted.
Head stud kit for Small Block Chevy is available with 12
Pt. nuts for increased valve spring pocket clearance.
All head stud kits are for O.E. cyl. heads unless noted.
